MANAH: The Mango Festival held at the Municipal Park in the Wilayat of Manah concluded its two-day programme last week, organised by Al Dakhiliyah Governorate, represented by Al Dakhiliyah Municipality, in collaboration with Mazoon Dairy and several Omani brands.
The festival forms part of ongoing efforts to support the agricultural sector, promote locally produced goods, and strengthen agricultural tourism across the governorate.
Featuring 28 exhibition booths, the event brought together mango growers, small and medium enterprises, productive families, and Omani brands. Dedicated spaces showcased a variety of mango types as well as mango-based products, alongside wider displays of local food items and artisanal goods.
The programme also included an interactive stage with cultural and entertainment segments, in addition to photography and drawing corners, creating a community-focused experience that blended agricultural marketing with leisure and family engagement.
Although modest in scale, the festival stood out for the enthusiasm of both participants and visitors. Exhibitors described the event as a valuable platform to promote their products directly to consumers and expand their market reach.
The booths saw steady visitor turnout, with many purchasing local produce and food items, reflecting growing public interest in supporting Omani products and strengthening local enterprise.
Laila al Shakaili, founder of a pickles and spices business established in 2002 and one of the participants, said such events play a crucial role in promoting local products and connecting producers with wider consumer bases. She noted her participation in several exhibitions over the years and her commitment to offering natural, high-quality products, some of which use authentic Omani olive oil sourced from Al Jabal Al Akhdhar.
She added that her work extends beyond commercial activity to supporting and training rural women, enhancing their production skills. She also announced plans to conduct an upcoming workshop on pickle-making techniques for women.
The festival underlined the importance of such initiatives in empowering farmers, productive families, and entrepreneurs, while reinforcing the visibility of local products and contributing to broader goals of food security and sustainable development.
